Welcome to the Rotary Club of Mumbai Downtown

On 30th June 1971 at 7.30 pm at a glittering Presidential Hall of Hotel Natraj, DG Narainbhai Bhatia inaugurated the Rotary Club of Bombay Downtown and presented the Charter with 41 members. Of them, one was a Past President of Rotary Club of Kampala – Rtn Suryakant Patel, one from Rotary Club of Bombay – Rtn Hansraj Mariwala and four from Rotary Club of Bombay Uptown – Rtn Madhuker Shah, Rtn Navin Mehta, Rtn Govindji Shah and Rtn Vinod Momaya.

“Our hope of being privileged to be accepted in the distinguished fold of Rotary is today a reality” a relieved President Rtn Hansraj acclaimed as the new Club – Rotary Club of Bombay Downtown was formally launched on 30th June 1971. The modest President laid stern stipulations for a 100% attendance observation.

The Club’s Corpus Trust was formed and registered to monitor the funds collected and to oversee the spending for charitable causes.
